How to prepare for your Boudoir Photoshoot

With the holidays just around the corner, this is the perfect time to get your partner a very sexy gift. A boudoir photo shoot is something they can truly appreciate and you can have for a lifetime. It can also make you feel more confident and beautiful and help you tap deeper into your sexual side. However, if you’ve never done a photo shoot before, getting ready and being involved in one can be a little nerve-racking and intimidating . In this case, planning is key. Follow some of these tips to ensure you have a great experience and have an even better present to give your partner this season.

Get your hair done.
There’s nothing worse then feeling insecure because you’re having a bad hair day. Don’t risk having one of those days where your hair just won’t work, instead spend the time getting it professionally done. You can even make it easier on yourself and have your hair done by one of our professional stylists before the shoot. This will help you relax and feel like you’re looking your best. If you can’t afford to get your hair done, money or time wise, practice the look you want a few times leading up to the shoot so you have it down.

Avoid tanning.
Unless done professionally, spray tans tend to come out streaky and a little bit orange and first time box tanners have the tendency to burn–these are both looks you probably want to avoid, so skip the fake bake and go as your wonderful self. You’ll have these pictures forever, you’d hate to remember how the orange spray tan ran down your leg every time you look at it.

Go with a clean face.
Remove all of your make up prior to arriving at the photo shoot if you’re having your make-up done professionally by one of our make-up artists. This will give your face a chance to breathe and get back a natural glow. It will also give our artists a clean slate to work with. If you’re not getting your make-up done professionally, use the same idea from above and practice your look a few times before the day of the shoot.

Come with options.
Bring a few looks to change into. You may end up only using one or two, but options will allow you to see what looks best with the set, the lighting and your body that day. Don’t sell yourself short and come with only one look. You should also consider getting a new piece (or a few new pieces of lingerie) for shoot. Make it special by being in something that your partner has never seen before. Find something that fits perfectly and lifts everything the way you want it to. This is the easiest way to jump starting your confidence! Need somewhere to get started? Check out Adam & Eve’s extensive lingerie collection.

Bring props.
Props can be shoes, jewelry, hats, purses, even sex toys, you name it. Bring things that can add a little personal touch to your photos and will resonate with you or your partner. If you’re nervous about being in front of the camera, props are always a great way to put up a mental barrier and can help you feel less exposed.

Get a manicure.
Our nails can easily get forgotten when it comes to photo shoots, but what seems like something small can actually show up in a big, big way. If you have chipped nails, uneven nails or even excessive hang nails, they are likely to show up in the photo and can quickly turn a sexy look into an unpolished one. Spend the time and get them professionaly done–go bold and daring or go completely neutural, either way works!

And finally, relax.
Spend some time before your shoot doing something that helps you relax, whether it be yoga, reading or even watching TV. Also be sure to have everything packed and prepared a day or so before the shoot. This will keep you from frantically running around before your appointment. You want to come in feeling beautiful and confident and unfrazzled, so make the time and do whatever it is you have to do.

It may seem like preparation for a boudoir shoot is expensive, but this is a lifetime investment. This is something you and your partner can always look back on, so you want to make sure you look your best. Figure out what is important to you and spend your money there and save where you can. And just remember to have fun, come with an open mind and be ready to amazing about yourself!
